What things to pack for Ladakh?
A tour to Ladakh is unlike Himachal. You cannot go easy and take it lightly. The weather goes unpredictable any moment. We will help you pack in a way you don’t miss anything essential and don’t overburden yourself with all the packing.
- Since you never know about Ladakh’s weather, but being on high altitude becomes quite chilly even during summers, the foremost is to carry woolens.
- Carry at least two extra pain of undergarments,thermal wear, basic clothes for if your flights get cancelled or in any such case.
- Do not carry very tight clothes, your comfort is a primary thing to be taken care of.
- Carry wind-cheat, jackets so you could put on or take them off anytime comfortably.
- For winters, carry only woolens.
- Definitely carry gloves and woolen caps. Remember your health comes first. You should be healthy to tell Ladakh stories to everyone. (Tip: Carry your clothes in vacuum bags available on amazon. The weight remains same but it helps saving a lot of space.)
- The sunlight is bright to cause a sun-tan really quick, so don’t forget to carry sun-cap, sunscreen, sunglasses too.
- Pure coconut oil works best at many places. It works for chapped lips, dry skin,hands.
- Don’t forget packing mobile charger, paper soap, paper towels, hand towels, tooth paste, brush, comb, coconut oil, scissors for just in case, shampoo, Toilet Paper(there aren’t many toilets in Ladakh so carrying it is a must)
- Don’t forget to carry basic medicines. For headache, fever, stomach ,motions,vomits, cold and cough, ORS powder, glucose, band aids, savlon/dettol, antiseptic, bandage, moov, safety pin, isabgol(Psyllium husk) etc. Keep sipping water, glucose or ORS time to time. At high altitudes, Kahwa, a special tea is available. It helps you safe from AMS too. If possible carry Kahwa(available on amazon) and a electric kettle and have that whenever possible.
- Start taking Diamox a night before landing Ladakh. In case you forget taking it, start taking one as soon as you reach Ladakh. Almost all hotels have diamox in their medical kits.
- Batteries run out faster in Ladakh. So carry power bank if you can and charge it whenever possible.
- If travelling by your own car, carry power pump, tool kit, puncture kit.
